Youth Gone Wild

I have had the pleasure of discovering many birds-of-the-feather through numerous artists blogs over the past 3 or 4 months when I began posting my work. One of which, is my friend Douglas Hoover who I seem to share MORE things in common with than either of us should so openly admit :>)- Doug recently revealed through "7 unusual things"about himself that he was a bit of a Glam Rock aficionado- (see #5 of Artistic Comrades) from back in the day. Being a bit of an instigator- I challenged Doug to post a picture of himself in full regalia (with my own damaging pics on the table as collateral). Soooo, here ya' go Doug! Anyone is welcome to join the party...

Oh, snap! You've got the look with your Strat, Tom. And you're probably right with the MORE things in common... so, what year was the T/A you were driving? Mine was an 83. Ok, getting my pics together....

Ha! Mine was a not-so-gently broken in 82'... with T-tops! This should be good :>)

What a stud you are back then in a Def Leppard sort of way and now in a Cowboy Hang 'em High sort of way. Now I'm dying to see Doug's. He's been teasing us with a headless avatar all this time.

Ok, buddy... we're live

Sheila, I see that Def Leppard attitude in Tom's eye...

and thanks for the motivation for me to change my headless avatar ;)

Thanks Sheila- what I am really trying to illustrate is how big a goofball I have ALWAYS been ;>) That- and I want to see how many people are willing to humiliate themselves with me— it builds character and takes some of the chill off cyberspace... you in?!!! ha ha

So, Tom, do you think that this will help further our art careers?

I can't remember if I told you, but, your human social paradigm theory based on the idea that "there's one in every group"... brilliant!

Doug- I am really proud of the monument we have erected in the name of Glam - that just may have made my whole entire week! Ha ha! Thank you for being such a good sport- well played!

Well now- for the rest of you... don't just sit back and stare into these two shining examples for too long, you may go blind! We ALL need to illuminate the way... (only if you know where to find "FUN")

Great... I don't know if I have 80's stuff. I was a boring cop by then. Will 70's stuff be okay?

SHEILA!!! Think "Fun Facet of Yourself"- whatever that is meets the criteria for this idea :>) You seem too nice for Roller Derby, but maybe you were a Dancing Queen on the tamborine??? Break it out!

Wow! Your picture blows my mind. Tom, I thought you were born cowboy. Is that your real hair? Very COOL!!

Roller Derby, there was a local team in the city where I lived and went to college. The Bay City Bombers baby!

Hey Tom, I just discovered Doug's avatar is not him but a painting of a writer. If he doesn't post a recent photo soon maybe we can have a contest of what he might look like now.

Hey there Akiko- Yeah that WAS me... a long time ago :>) You know- I was never much of a real cowboy, but for the first 18 years of my life I lived in the middle of a cornfield and have always sported a pair of cowboy boots if that qualifies for anything! But it wasn't until I moved out to New Mexico that I found a new cowboy hat- the last one I owned was left in a chicken coop overnight... I didn't wear it after that :>)

Hey Sheila- I think this should be YOUR project (I totally support you 100% though)! Ha ha For me, it doesn't matter what picture he throws out there now... I kind of want him to always be the guy in THAT picture :>)

FYI, I tagged you with a "I love your artblog" award in my blog.

Tom, New Mexico is you my friend and it shows in your paintings!

I don't know what Sheila's talking about, that photo of me was taken early last week ;)

No matter what, Tom... Rock & Roll all Night and Party Every Day... with frequent napping in between.
