Capturing the spirit of the Southwestern culture
This is beautiful. The tree, the shadows. I love her deliberate walk. She raised a good son who turned to an awesome man and father.
Tom, This is as good as it gets. I'm sure Mom LOVES it. I love how you suggest the whole tree with the shadow up the wall and then the branches hanging into the composition. Excellent. And those blues and reds in the shadows! Another keeper... -Don
Very nice work Tom!
Wonderful painting, Tom - it has a fantastic sense of light.
Really wonderful, Tom. Love the colors, and the figures are great in this.
Thanks guys! I was a little worried about pulling off the tree limbs and the shadows, without it looking "weird". It turned out to be pretty fun! I have been mentally preparing to do some BIG paintings (24 x 48 and larger)- Im wondering if any of you have ever used "Paint Brushes" for such an undertaking??? Currently, the largest brush in the drawer is about 1" width (22)- and I don't have two or three hundred bucks to drop on 2" and 3" sables...
Hey, Tom - I block in larger pieces with regular house paint brushes. (china bristles). sometimes the stubbier they get after use, the better. I also use less expensive synthetic craft brushes. They really hold up pretty well. i save my sables and more expensive brushes for detail work.
Thank you Liz! Great advice!! It has begun... :>)
